Here, we’ll highlight the main fall events that are celebrated annually in Dilijan.

"Tourism Unites Cultures": Annual Arts and Crafts Festival

Since 2013, the International Arts and Crafts Festival has traditionally been held in Dilijan at the beginning of September. Supported by the Ministry and Committee of Tourism, this Pan-Armenian festival is a significant event not only for Dilijan but for the entire country. Its purpose is to showcase the tourism potential of each Armenian region, bringing together farmers, artisans, and craftsmen from across Armenia. Each participant displays products unique to their locality, including decorative arts, carpet weaving, wood carving, jewelry, and more. In 2024, the festival took place on September 7, featuring over 70 pavilions representing almost all Armenian communities. The twelfth festival included national dances, songs, and workshops led by Armenian craftsmen.

Dilijan City Day

Every year during the first week of October, Dilijan celebrates City Day. This year, on October 5, festivities were especially grand, as the city marked its 480th anniversary. City Day in Dilijan typically includes extensive cultural programs with performances by renowned artists and groups, exhibitions and sales of goods from both local artisans and national minorities residing in Dilijan, as well as from local small and medium-sized businesses. The anniversary event this year drew numerous guests, including foreign delegations and tourists.

Pumpkin Festival: A Traditional Harvest Celebration

Since 2021, the Pumpkin Festival has been celebrated annually in late October or early November and has become a true symbol of autumn in Dilijan. This traditional harvest festival features dishes prepared from fresh ingredients, along with markets and village fairs. The festival is held in the village of Hovk at the Green Training Center, where you’ll find plenty of pumpkins and more! The event also includes musical performances and family-friendly activities. A popular highlight is the farmer competition for the largest pumpkin, adding a fun, competitive spirit to this warm autumn celebration.
